Spicy Potatoes Curry

Ingredients

For the curry:

  • Baby potatoes, boiled & peeled -500g
  • Lemon juice -3 tbsp.
  • Few curry leaves
  • Ghee or butter-1/2 cup
  • Salt to taste

For the masala paste:

  • Coriander seeds-2 tbsp.
  • Poppy seeds-2 tbsp.
  • Small onions, chopped- 2
  • Ginger -1"
  • Grated coconut-1/2 cup
  • Cashew nuts -6-8
  • Green chilies- 2-3
  • Red chili powder -2-3 tsp.
  • Garlic cloves -6
  • Cumin seeds -1/2 tsp.
  • Mustard seeds- 1/4 tsp.
  • Turmeric and curry powder – 1 tsp.
  • Garam masala  – 1 tsp. 

Method

  1. Mix the ingredients of masala paste and blend to fine paste.
  2. Heat ghee in a pan, fry the ground paste and curry leaves.
  3. When it starts giving a sweet aroma, add lemon juice and mix in the boiled potatoes.
  4. Fry for few more minutes, add 3/4 cup water and simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Serve hot with any fried rice.
