Onions are an important part of almost all Indian recipes. They are an integral part of masalas for Indian curries and snacks and even eaten raw as a salad with meals. So, onion chutney is another way to enjoy the taste of onions with the meals.
Ingredients
- Onion-2 medium sized
- Garlic- 6-8 cloves
- Red chilli powder- 1 teaspoon ( or you can also add green chillies 2-3
- Channa dal – 4 teaspoons (roasted channa dal)
- Tamarind pulp- 1 tablespoon
- Mustard seeds-1/2 teaspoon
- Curry leaves- a sprig(optional)
- Oil-1 teaspoon
- Salt- to taste
Method
- In a grinder make a paste of the onions,garlic,tamarind (imli) pulp and channa dal.
- To this paste add red chilli powder and salt according to your taste.
- In a karahi add 1 teaspoon of oil when it gets warm add mustard seeds let it sputter, now add curry leaves to it (optional) .
- Put this baghar or tadka over the onion chutney and relish this delicious chutney with your meals.
